These are my favorite nonprofits because of their values and the great work they do in the world.

Guideposts – Guideposts reaches millions of people, inspiring them to believe that anything is possible with hope, faith and prayer. This is accomplished through their many outreach programs that allow us to connect with people and help sustain them in times of spiritual need. The power of faith in action helps transform the lives of people who call on them for help in creating joy out of deep sadness, courage out of fear, and restoring hope from the depths of despair.

Heartworks – This is an amazing acts of kindness organization based in Bernardsville, NJ.  Not only am I honored to be a Heartworker, but the organization has eased my family’s burden on two very stressful occasions, Hurricane Sandy and during my time on bed rest healing the pressure wound.  Heartworks is all about giving with and open heart, receiving with grace and being grateful. I have grown so much because of Heartworks.  Being on the giving end is one thing.  Receiving, on the other hand, is a challenge for some, including me.  What I have come to understand is that accepting the help that is given not only benefits the receiver, but the giver as well.  By accepting help, we honor the giver and have provided them with the wonderful feeling of knowing they have made a positive difference in people lives.  In my case, the Heartworkers have definitely helped me heal.

Holding Space for Caregivers – The mission of this wonderful organization is to bring comfort and relief to caregivers, and to enhance their well-being, through complementary and alternative therapies, starting with massage bodywork therapies provided free of charge by licensed, experienced and committed professionals.
